Annual General Meeting
3pm Saturday 26 April at the Centre.
The AGM is the signal for a time of change - a 'changing of the guard'. Each year at this time the Committee dissolves. Some members of the Committee wish to stand for re-election. However new members are sought to bring new life into the workings of the Branch. The Committee must have at least 3 and not more than 7 members, who may be re-elected 6 times (a total of 7 years).
We welcome fresh heads, hearts and hands to continue maintaining a place where Anthroposophy in Hawkes Bay can be grounded and to plan events that will stir our souls and raise our spirits.
Please consider whether you, or someone you know, could take this up. If so, please ask them and contact the Secretary, Angela, by phone 027-4436 737 or email to info@anthrohb.nz so that nomination can be arranged.
All members will receive a notice for the AGM with Agenda, Reports and Nominations a fortnight beforehand, on 12 April. Anyone who has ideas or issues they wish to have discussed in the forum of a General Meeting should contact and inform the Secretary at least a day before that date.

MADE IN AOTEAROA NEW ZEALAND
A WORKSHOP WEEKEND - 9 to 11 May in Auckland
Christopher Houghton Budd will be providing an opportunity to explore social renewal with a focus on the economic sphere.
With the current socio-political context in the world, and the significant changes with Trump’s responses to problems on a world stage, including his fiscal way of fixing problems in the world, can we use this opportunity to ask and explore “How can we create a different future?”
We are interested in the folk soul of Aotearoa.
How is Aotearoa positioned in the wider world context? How does this relate to the folk soul of Aotearoa?
This question is particularly relevant in relation to what is happening in the world context, and the significant changes we are witnessing at home and globally.
Christopher will be speaking about why the Society needs to be funded and the responsibility of being part of the Michaelic stream, particularly in light of what we are witnessing in the wider world context.
We would like to invite you to explore these questions with us, to discuss, explore, and find some insights together.

Accommodation or House Sitting
Tara Lamb, a past Taikura student and recent Taikura parent, seeks 'house sitting' from Easter Monday for a week.
Tara writes: “I am starting the one-year Rudolf Steiner teacher training course at Taruna this year.
My two girls (Mostar 13 & Hazel 10) and myself, are looking for a place to stay from the 21st to the 25th April.
If you need a house sitter – we can do it.
Or if you have a self-contained sleep-out that would be wonderful.
We are happy to share a room and can contribute towards power and food. My children will be at friends’ places while I'm at the course.
We would be most grateful if you could help, or know someone who can.
Please contact me on 021-2604992”

Michael -- Archangel
Autumn is the transition from the long, hot days of outward Summer to the shorter, colder, darker, inward days of Winter. A time of winds and mellow fruitfulness. The soul of the Earth contracts and draws inwards from the far, wide spaces, as does the human soul in sympathy.
Michael is a high-ranking spiritual being linked to the processes of nature at this time of the year.
SO – who is this being?
M – ICH – A – EL: known as the Countenance of Christ. 'Ich' is the name one calls oneself (in German). Christ helps mankind develop the "I" or Ego or Ich.
What do we mean by countenance?
The Countenance or Face of a person is external, where one looks to the ‘shining’ of the individual ‘I’ or Ego within that is otherwise invisible to our senses. Some say it shines out through the eyes. No doubt that gets near.
The Face is also the home of our dominant senses: sight, hearing, touch [and warmth], smell and taste.
Christ, we can say since the Mystery of Golgotha, is the spirit of the Earth. Christ has united himself with the earth and humanity. Michael is the face of this work.
His mission or task is the EVOLUTION of Humanity into beings [the tenth hierarchy] who can freely, out of themselves (that is without compunction) “Love one another”.
Judging by the number of wars that have erupted over recent centuries, we have a long way to go!!
From the moment the idea of humanity was born in the Divine mind, the Father Creator, the spiritual being known to us as Michael has accompanied humanity on its Cosmic evolution.
Michael was a most important being to Rudolf Steiner. Every aspect Rudolf Steiner’s life and work is permeated by service to Michael’s evolutionary task. Especially from the Christmas Foundation in 1923 when he became the president of the reformed Anthroposophical Society. Previously he was the teacher, not a member. Rudolf Steiner felt he was taking a risk of losing the cooperation of the Michael and the spiritual worlds and what had flowed to him would dry up. He was vindicated as what came to him was even more abundant. A characteristic of Michael is that he does not lead but supports the free initiative of people.
Rudolf Steiner’s connection with Michael.
Rudolf Steiner was born in February 1861.
He tells us that Michael ascended to become a Time Spirit (Archai) in Autumn 1879, when Rudolf Steiner would have been about 18 + half, his first Moon Node return [relates to eclipse cycles].
He had recently met Felix the Herb gatherer with whom he could talk in depth about his spiritual experiences. This led him to meeting an unnamed master who was able to advise him.
I suspect that this master would have been a reincarnation of Christian Rosenkreutz, the founder of Rosicrucianism to which he often refers.
Rosenkreutz himself was a reincarnation of Lazarus John who was very close to Christ.
The very first Leading Thought [p13]. Rudolf Steiner describes his work, Anthroposophy, thus:
“Anthroposophy is a path of knowledge, to guide the spiritual in the human being to the Spiritual in the universe. It arises as a need of the heart, of the life of feeling; and it can only be justified in as much it can satisfy this inner need.”
Knowledge very much involves the process of thinking.
In Latin ‘scio’ means ‘I know’. Science is about knowledge.
In general, the scientific process involves perceiving the physical world that surrounds us and noticing the order. the spatial patterns and time rhythms to be found in the phenomena we see. Rudolf Steiner was involved in his 20s with the scientific of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and then wrote “The Philosophy of Freedom” also known as “The Philosophy of Spiritual Activity”.
One aspect of Freedom is being free of prejudice. Prejudice leads to untruth.
Nothing in the world happens by accident! Everything thing in the world has a spiritual archetype according to which it is created.
The creative spiritual archetypes are manifest in the phenomena, but we cannot perceive the archetype with our senses. We only become aware of this pattern or archetype through our own willed living thinking. Only when we are truly free can we link the right archetype to its manifest phenomenon.
In early Physical Science lessons, I would want the children to discover simple relationships concerning Cause and Effect.
This can be expressed as a simple logical statement of the form: “IF {situation}, THEN {consequence}”.
For example: “IF we heat a piece of metal, THEN it will expand.”
Sounds a bit like Karma.
Developing this thinking, this intelligence, is part of the current evolution of humanity, in which Michael is intimately involved.
