Annual Report 2025

Annual Report from the Committee

AGM April 26 2025

We would like to offer our gratitude and congratulations to all the people involved in making the Centre such a vibrant, lively and beautiful place to work, teach and learn.

Every week of the school term, there is a study group run in the library by Cleone Armon. This group discusses books of interest to those seeking to understand spiritual science.

Taikura School’s Te Kakano Playgroup is also run for mothers, babies and under two years old on Mondays and Fridays. These delightful families enjoy the main room and outside area for play and socialising. Brittany Aberahama does a wonderful job as hostess.

After school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Ruth Strong leads speech and drama classes.

On Wednesdays, Kathy Allan leads a pastel class where artists explore anthroposophical themes in various stories.

The Library is open and people visit the library to browse and borrow books. This is supported by Fran Obers on Wednesdays between 11-2pm during term times. Recently 14 new books have been purchased and added to the shelves.

Each Friday evening there is a study group that discusses ideas from arising from Rudolf Steiner’s “Leading Thoughts”.

Every quarter a seasonal festival is organised by John Jackson and Astrid Pook. These may include, music, song, eurythmy, dance, verse, prayer. readings, talks and Biodynamic preparation stirring.

Shu Shimaoka frequently leads Reiki and Tibetan Bell meditations at the Centre which helps keep the Centre resonating at a high frequency.

Angela Hair has a regular homeopathic clinic in the consult room and many people receive help and support from her.

Eva Steinmetz-Urieli supports her clients through art therapy each week. Angela and Eva enjoy creating a beautiful environment in the foyer with artwork displays and flowers.

We are grateful for the special care of Jenny Speedy in the garden and Cecile Hurford cleaning the house in creating ambience.

As listed in the Treasurer’s Report we have had more than our share repairs and maintenance for the year, but this has lead, amongst other things, to a warmer place in winter.

Since Gabrielle Storm the cost of Insurance in Hawkes Bay has risen, so we engaged a Valuer to advise on the appropriate level of insurance, which we have activated.

Robyn Hewetson has stepped down from the committee after seven years of dedicated service.

We invite anyone interested in helping to keep this jewel in the heart of Hastings, sparkling and vibrant to join the band.
